Eco bag Production Operator


Fresh Life works with municipalities and urban residents to develop and scale safe, citywide inclusive and financially sustainable sanitation solutions in fast growing cities starting with Nairobi, Kisumu and Eldoret in Kenya. To provide skilled tailoring support in the production of eco-friendly bags and other fabric-based products, while actively contributing to the goals of the Freshlife Initiative. The role supports sustainable livelihood efforts by working closely with the Logistics team and taking on various tasks that enhance product quality and promote innovation.


  1. Eco Bag Weaving Support:

  • Collaborate with the weaving team to support the production of eco-friendly bags, overalls and raincoats by tailoring and assembling woven components into finished products.

  1. Material Handling & Safety Compliance:

  • Handle fabrics, threads, tools, and other materials safely and efficiently.

  • Follow safety protocols and ensure a secure working environment in line with organizational guidelines.

  1. 5S Implementation:

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient workspace following the 5S principles (Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain)

  • Contribute to a culture of discipline and continuous improvement.

  1. Autonomous Maintenance (AM) & Preventive Maintenance (PM):

  • Conduct daily checks and minor maintenance (AM) on tailoring equipment to ensure operational readiness.

  • Assist with or perform scheduled preventive maintenance (PM) to reduce equipment breakdowns and extend machine life.

  1. Team Collaboration & Meetings:

  • Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and brainstorming activities to support synergy and continuous learning.

  • Provide input and feedback on tailoring and production processes.

  1. Documentation & Reporting:

  • Keep accurate records of daily work, material usage, production outputs, and maintenance activities.

  • Submit timely reports to supervisors or project leads as required.

  1. Quality Control:

  • Ensure all tailoring work meets the required quality standards.

  • Conduct final checks on finished products for stitching accuracy, durability, and aesthetic presentation.

  • Report and address any defects or inconsistencies promptly.


  • Certificate in a Tailoring course.

  • 2-3 years of proven experience as a tailor or sewer; experience with bag production is a plus.

  • Ability to read and interpret design patterns and production instructions. 

  • Strong attention to detail and quality craftsmanship.

  • Ability to work well with a diverse group of stakeholders. 

  • Ability to perform tasks under minimum supervision.

  • Ability to work in teams maintaining professionalism.
